John Paul Genzo

John is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and creative director whose 40-year career spans fine art, publishing, and executive creative leadership. Today, his focus lies in creating multimedia landscapes, architectural installations featuring modern stonework, and large-scale canvases that explore unique textures, black-and-white imagery, and limited color palettes.

Originally from Mercer County, New Jersey, John began designing stage sets in high school before attending the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City. Influenced heavily by the Surrealist movement and the pop-poster style of the mid-eighties, he earned his BFA with honors and received the Silas Rhodes Achievement Award. His work was notably selected for the prestigious SVA "Best of the Best" retrospective, featuring top graduates from the institution's 50-year history.

Upon graduation, an initial commission from HarperCollins launched an extensive commercial career. His dynamic illustration style quickly became in-demand for advertising, books, magazines, postage stamps, and greeting cards. Over the years, his client roster grew to include major global brands and institutions, such as:

Throughout his trajectory as an Adjunct Professor, Creative Director, and Vice President of Creative, John has never abandoned his core artistic passion. Today, his artwork is held in numerous private and public collections. His piece "Ornithosis" was acquired by the Mercer County NJ Culture and Heritage Commission’s permanent collection after winning first place at the Mercer County Artists Exhibition.
